Chinese New Year | Bringing in the Year of the Rabbit with Good Fortune, Prosperity and Joy
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival, is the most important traditional festival in China and in Chinese communities around the world. It is celebrated at the turn of the lunar calendar, usually in late January or early February. The exact date of the holiday varies from year to year, based on the Chinese lunar calendar, which is a lunisolar calendar. The celebrations usually last for about 15 days, ending with the Lantern Festival. It is an official public holiday in China and many other countries with significant Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Chinese New Year is a time for families to come together and celebrate the end of the old year and the beginning of the new. Many people return to their hometowns to be with their families and participate in traditional customs and activities. These include paying respects to ancestors, giving red envelopes filled with money to children and unmarried adults, and eating special foods.
Chinese New Year 2023 is the year of the rabbit, according to the Chinese Zodiac. The exact date of the Chinese New Year 2023 would fall between January 22nd and February 10th, it depends on the Chinese lunar calendar.
